Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe the senate minority leader has urged the Federal Government to embrace caution in handling Mazi Kanu’s case

Nnamdi Kanu the Igbo activist was arraigned in court on the 29th of June 2021 after his arrest and is presently in DSS custody.

The Senator in his statement advised the Government to adhere strictly to the rule of law and take the guidance of section 31 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He went further to clarify that the section and chapter give the detainee the right to be humanely treated while in detention

In his words, “This simply means that it is the duty of the Government to protect and ensure the respect of Mazi Kanu’s fundamental human rights until his trial is over”.
